Nice looking accommodation, magnificent location near to everything, excellent breakfast. Location very close to nice breakfast lovely gardens, Ripon for the races, and the Water Rat pub, along the canal. For tea or coffee visit Booths nearby. Great location set in lovely grounds opposite the cathedral. Very friendly staff. Ripon is a lovely city and The Deanery, with its traditional- English atmosphere and setting, complement each other.

It was an ideal location for Ripon Town Centre and the Cathedral which we had long wanted to see.
The staff were not very efficient. We waited at least 5 minutes on arrival for someone to come to reception and during that time reception was completely devoid of all life forms and anyone could have walked in and walked away with equipment or systems. Our room wasn't ready even though they were expecting us the night before (through no fault of our own). We found the limited menu (available Mondays and Tuesday) very limited indeed and had to eat elsewhere. The place seemed to be running on some sort of budget, which included the amount of staff available. On the positive side, the breakfast was very nice and the room clean and comfortable although there were no curtains only shutters for the windows and one of them had no means of closing it (the knob had come off and no-one had replaced it). The complimentary toiletries had also not been re-stocked in the bathroom and we had to request these. It is unlikely we will stay again.

Lovely old building. Friendly staff. The room had character, but the shower room was modern and the facilities good. The food is very good. There was a slight problem with dessert, but this was resolved amicably.

Historic architecture, lovely gardens for relaxation, proximity to Ripon Cathedral
Room maintenance issues need addressing!!! The window shutters are frustrating to operate. The noise insulation lacks improvement!!!

Had a fun getaway with friends! We loved exploring the garden and the breakfast options were great, especially the Gardener's breakfast. We visited a nearby cathedral event and enjoyed a nice dinner. It's in a quiet spot yet close to everything you need. I recommend this place for a chill group trip!
One slight annoyance was the church bells on Sunday morning. It's expected being so close to a church, but it did wake us up early.

Had a lovely time here! Enjoyed the cozy lounge with its real fire and the peaceful garden terrace for some relaxation. The mattress could use an upgrade for better comfort, but it didn't ruin our stay – definitely try the full breakfast!

The breakfast menu had a fixed selection, which could feel restrictive for some-just a single option for everyone is a bit odd. The absence of a coffee table in my room was noticeable, though they delivered one promptly when I requested it. Still, it left me wondering about the room's layout.

The deanery is a lovely old building with a charming atmosphere. We had a superior double room that felt really comfortable. The hotel is a stone's throw from the cathedral and the middle of town, perfect for exploring! The breakfast impressed, especially the range of locally sourced ingredients.
